Family-owned for four generations, the Bunker Hill Cheese Company has been producing artisan cheeses for nearly eight decades. John (Hans) Dauwalder trained as a master cheesemaker in Switzerland and made his first trip to the United States in the 1920’s. After returning to his homeland to marry his sweetheart Lili, he later came back to the U.S. to join his brother Crist and Bunker Hill Cheese Company was born.
Today, offering over fifty varieties of cheese to choose from, Heini’s takes the best traditions of the old world and marries it to the innovations of the modern age. From traditional Lacey Baby Swiss to their well-established probiotic, lactose-free Yogurt line, Heini’s continues to build on the foundation of their tradition of producing quality cheeses.
